Program Details

“Grand concert à la Strauss.” As stated in the New York Times announcement, this is the final concert of the season, but Sunday concerts will continue. Additionally, as soon as the Central Park Garden is outfitted for the cold weather, a winter concert season will commence.

“Three concerts will be given at Central Park Garden this week: to-night, Wednesday night and Friday night. This evening the dance music of Strauss will constitute the main feature of the programme. On Wednesday night Handel’s works will be performed, and on Friday evening Liszt’s compositions will have the place of honor. To-morrow night Mr. Thomas will transfer his orchestra to the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where Madame Lagrange will sing for the first time this season.”

“Mr. Theodore Thomas will give his last popular concert at this establishment to-night; when the selections will be mainly from Strauss. After certain necessary alterations have been made in the Garden, to adapt it to the Winter Season, Mr. Thomas will announce a new series of entertainments.
