“Rose Massey, who made her first appearance in this country on this occasion, is possessed of a pretty figure and a pleasing face, and here our praise must cease, for her voice is so weak that scarcely one half she says can be heard, and as for singing, that is out of the question. She appeared to be laboring under some difficulty the first night, for she was excessively nervous. The only meritorious singing in the burlesque was by Rose Cook, who possesses a sweet voice. She is improving in her acting, and her warm reception was richly deserved.”
