Note from Mr. Brougham.

New-York, Tuesday, March 8, 1869.

To the Editor of the New-York Times:

I take the earliest opportunity of endeavoring to remove an erroneous impression, which I fear might be formed from the article in your Sunday issue, wherein it is suggested that a portion of the description contained in the bill of ‘Much Ado About a Merchant of Venice,’ had an individual significance.

I beg most distinctly to state that I had no such intention, and trust that I shall never be guilty of so much bad taste as to induldge in personalities prejudicial to any one, reprehensible at all times, but especially so in a public representation. Obediently yours,

JOHN BROUGHAM.”
