“Mr. Maretzek’s season of twenty regular performances came to an end with the representation of ‘Le Prophete,’ on Saturday evening, and all that now remains for the subscribers and the public at large is the ‘Bal d’Opera,’ which takes place to-night. The preparations for this affair have been made carefully. There has been no stint in the way of decoration, and the music will be abundant and good. The names of the patrons guarantee a fashionable and brilliant attendance. We hear, too, that the tickets have sold well. There is no doubt that the ball will be one of the most joyous of the season.”
