“A Newly-Arrived Prima Donna. Signora Elena Lanzri [Lanari], who has been making a series of brilliant triumphs in opera at Milan, Florence, and in other cities of Italy, has been unostentatiously brought to this country to give interest to the present musical season. Although she is an operatic artist of the highest rank, she will only appear in concerts and oratorios at present. She is young, spirituelle, has a pure soprano voice, excels in knowledge of music, and executes with wonderful taste, precision and effect. Several of the most fashionable and musical families of the metropolis are deeply interested in paying attention to the young prima donna, and her first concert will be given about the middle of next month, at the theatre of the Union League. Signora Lanzri [Lanari] will appear in oratorio at Christmas.”
