“Among the musical entertainments soon to take place in this city are two which in private and fashionable circles attract considerable attention. They are the soiree of Signor Barili at Steinway Hall, and the soiree of M. Rivarde, announced for Saturday night at Apollo Hall. These gentlemen are both successful teachers of music, and their soirees are invitation affairs, at which their pupils sing, with the assistance of one or two professional vocalists. Some of the best amateur talent in the city can be heard at these entertainments.”
“At Barili’s annual evening dress complimentary concert at Steinway’s to-night, Mrs. Farnham and a number of other accomplished amateurs will sing, assisted by the Barili brothers. Alfred Barili, a youthful pianist of rare promise, will play two selections.”
