“Mr. Pike has bought ground at the corner of Twenty-third-street and Broadway, east side, and will speedily erect a new opera house and hotel. The site is one of the best in the City. Years ago Laura Keene and Boucicault tried very hard to lease the ground for a theatre. Mr. Pike, we hear, paid $950,000 for it.”
