Announcement: New-York Times, 24 April 1869, 6.

“Mr. J. C. Williamson, a young, industrious and capable comedian, who has in turn been identified with the company of Wallack’s Theatre and of the Broadway, is to benefit by a representation at the latter house to-night. The entertainment he offers is of an interesting character, and will be coöperated in by numerous popular artists. The plays are ‘Dick Swiveller’ (a new dramatization of Dickens’ Old Curiosity Shop) and a farce, and Mrs. Barney Williams, Mrs. Sedley Brown, and a host of volunteers, are to act. If Mr. Williamson be remembered by a very few of the many persons he has successfully striven to amuse, the Broadway Theatre will be filled.”
