“We have already expressed our commendation of the new pantomime at the Olympic…Mr. Fox has shown his usual great discrimination in avoiding everything that is likely to weary an audience…[He] presents a wholesome, rational, and enjoyable pantomime, such as we were brought up to admire in the palmy days of the Ravels. And we think it the highest praise that can be awarded to ‘Hiccory Diccory Dock’ to say that it seems to use to have even greater merits than our memory ascribes to those wonders of younger days, ‘The Night Own’ and ‘The Red Gnome and the White Warrin.’

“A pantomime to be perfectly and absolutely enjoyed must be seen through the rose-colored glory that surrounds it to eyes of youth…[Hiccory Diccory Dock] is the school of muscular dancing, bold and fearless in its steps and energetic in action, and it reflects the character of that hardy, liberty-loving, and warlike people, as perfectly as does their nervous, fitful, and wild national music.”

“Mlle. Rita Sangalli, the charming danseuse of the Olympic Theatre, has accepted a very advantageous offer from M. Perrin, of the Paris Grand Opera. She will appear there next season in the mimic rôles of Fenetta in ‘La Muette de Portici,’ and Helena in ‘Robert le Diable.’ She will consequently remain here but a short time longer.”
