Announces that Arrah na pogue is next scheduled at Niblo’s. “In the meanwhile the Thompson troupe, as heretofore, will appear in the customary spiritless prelude, which nightly serves as an introduction to that most enjoyable of that ‘light fantastic’ performance, the ‘grotesque quadrille,’ by the Cladoche [sic] troupe.”

“‘Sinbad the Sailor,’ with the Lydia Thompson Troupe, is still running at Niblo’s Garden. The most annoying part of the entertainment given at this house is that afforded by the claquers who infest the various parts of the auditorium, and who set up a horrible din at nearly everything said or done upon the stage. These professional claquers seem to have undergone a regular course of drilling for their arduous duties, and yet their salary is even less than that given to the other supers on the stage. Cannot the services of these claquers be made more available behind the curtain? It is probable that the Thompson troupe will close at Niblo’s toward the end of July, unless the continued downfall of business should render an earlier termination necessary.”

“Lydia Thompson was obliged to withdraw from the stage at Niblo’s on June 28th, and her role in ‘Sinbad the Sailor’ was sustained by Miss Weathersbee, who succeeded in making a decided sensation, and filling the role equally as well as Lydia filled it.”
