Program Details

Because July 4th fell on Sunday, the city decided to hold celebrations on July 5. The band concerts took place in conjunction with the fireworks displays, which occurred after dark. The announcement in the New York Herald differs for the bands playing at a few locations. It lists Schmeller's Band for Madison square, Ferry's Band for Hammersley's square, Achell's Band for Observatory place, and Eisley's Band for Jackson square. It also lists the concert by Hoffman's Band for 7th Avenue and 45th Street rather than 57th St.
