“The proprietors of this establishment have lately made an addition to the large concert hall, which greatly increases the capacity of the place and the comfort of the audience. The new hall is connected with the original concert-room by wide arches, which do not obstruct the sound of the orchestra in the slightest, but which mark the division line between the smokers and non-smokers. Formerly the hall would sometimes become rather misty with smoke before the evening was over, and occasionally a lady or a consumptive man found it somewhat too smoky for endurance. The opening of a new hall where smoking is not permitted is, therefore, a welcome accommodation to very many of the frequenters of the garden.”
