“The ‘Mooncharm,’ at the Waverley, seems to have affected all connected with it with an attack of lunacy. The treasurer, under the prevalent frenzy, offered to prevent the manager from entering the theatre the other day, and as a consequence he was compelled to appear before a police magistrate, and only succeeded in retaining his freedom by giving bail. Under such circumstances, of which this is only a sample, the management last night found it to his interest to bring his short summer season to an abrupt close.”
