“The annual ball of this society came off last night at Irving Hall, the attendance being much better than in former years. Robertson’s Seventy-ninth Regiment Band discoursed appropriate music during the evening. Mr. William Clelland [sic], the celebrated Highland piper, also performed on that peculiar instrument to the gratification of those present.”
