Announcement: New York Herald, 27 December 1869, 5.

“‘Shoo, Fly’ is still the sensation at Bryant’s Minstrels. Though on the bills for over two months it is apparently as fresh as ever, and with Dan’s vigor infused into it will probably remain the attraction for some time to come.”

“R. M. Carroll opens an engagement with Bryants’ Minstrels this evening in conjunction with his boy, who is said to be very clever.”

Review: New York Clipper, 08 January 1870, 318, col. 3.

“R. H. [sic] Carroll failed to appear at all during the past week with Bryants’ Minstrels, although some of our contemporaries gave him the credit of having made a hit there. We understand that Mr. Carroll, who was well at rehearsal on the morning of December 27th, was taken sick before that night, and continued so during the week. Business continues immense with this party, the hall being densely crowded every night.”
