“Mr. J. Henry Magonigle, of Booth’s theatre [sic], accused Thomas McCready, a former employé of Edwin Booth, at the Jefferson Market Police Court yesterday, with having maliciously injured the stage and scenery of that establishment. McCready had been discharged some time since from the theatre, and, it seems, nourished resentment against the chief carpenter. Getting drunk on Sunday, he obtained an entrance into the theatre from the Sixth avenue, through a side door, and thence to the stage. Advancing to the ‘fire butt’ he turned on the faucet and let the water on the stage, inuring the scenery and effects. Patrick J. Goulding, one of the watchmen, heard the noise, and rushing up on the stage stopped the water. McCready was arrested soon after in the street by an officer. He was committed in default of $300 bail.”
