A card on the advertisement page, but reads more like an announcement: “Booth’s Theatre.—An Idle Rumor Was Industriously circulated yesterday, on the Exchange, to the effect that Mr. James Fisk, Jr., owns a large controlling interest in Booth’s theatre [sic]. This is not the first time that such a statement has been put in circulation. We take occasion to say, therefore, upon the best possible authority, that James Fisk, Jr., is no way concerned in Booth’s theatre, directly or indirectly; that he does not own and never has owned a sixpence worth of the property, and that the idle rumor to which we have referred is only one more of the numberless expedients to which the love of notoriety forces one of its most unfortunate victims.—New York Tribune.”

“The report so industriously circulated by some mischievous person to the effect that Jim Jubilee, Jr., owned a controlling interest in Booth’s theatre [sic] is flatly contradicted by Mr. Edwin Booth himself.”
