“The Theatre Comique closes its season with the end of the current week. This is a very abrupt and summary way of disposing a number of ladies and gentlemen who were secured in good faith for the entire season of 1869-70. A full dramatic season is forty weeks, but because business has not been as good as was anticipated the management have concluded to close after only seven weeks trial. This is very hard on the ladies and gentlemen of the company, and it will be difficult for many to readily obtain other engagements. The Queen Sisters are announced for this week.”
