Review: New York Herald, 14 September 1869, 3.

“…In the variety and excellence of the entertainment it is impossible to tell what to praise the most. Eph Horn was indescribably comical, as he always is; Johnny Allen, in his comic songs, was the soul of merriment, and ‘Ten Minutes with Charlie Pettingill’ was a condensation of rich and rare enjoyment. Walter Bray, after singing his mule song as few others can sing it, made a speech, which for grotesque conceit and amusing conglomeration of humor and pathos cannot be surpassed…The beautiful and accomplished sisters, Sallie and Lucie Clinetop, danced with their usual vivacity, as did Miss Marie Zoel [sic]. It is unnecessary to go through the whole programme. It was an evening of splendid enjoyment.”
