Performance Date(s) and Time(s)
14 Sep 1869, 8:00 PM
Program Details
“Grand gala night.†No price given. Unclear what Jules Levy did this evening, as he was advertised to perform both at this concert and at the Lafayette Harrison Benefit Concert (see separate event entry of 09/14/69 of that title). Music in Gotham assumes that Berlioz’s orchestral arrangement of Weber’s Aufforderung zum Tanze and Thomas’s own fantasie on Verdi’s Ernani were the versions of those pieces performed, as the attributions in the citations are ambiguous.
