“The Harmonic Society.—This organization has commenced its rehearsals, and proposes to produce in the course of the winter four sterling works. In November, ‘Judas Maccabeus’; in December, the ‘Messiah’; in February, Mendelssohn’s ‘Elijah’; and in March, Schumann’s ‘Paradise and the Peri.’ The latter is a truly great work, and but little known here, and we are glad to find it on the programme of this excellent Society. Mr. Ritter, as in former years, is to be the conductor, and Mr. Connolly the organist.”
