“Filomeno, the Chilian pianist, will give at Apollo Hall to-morrow a concert for the benefit of the Cuban Relief Society. The Hall has lately been frescoed in a showy and effective manner by Signor Gariboldi, and was last night exhibited by the proprietor to a party of friends and press representatives.”

“Mlle. Josefina Filomeno, the talented young Chilean pianist and violinist, will give a grand sacred concert at Steinway Hall this evening for the relief of the Cuban patriots. The object of the concert is a worthy one, and as a good programme is offered there will doubtless be a large attendance of those whose sympathies are with the struggling patriots in ‘The Ever Faithful Isle.’ Mlle. Filomeno upon this occasion will be assisted by a number of well-known artists, besides several amateurs, all of whom have volunteered their services.”

Review: Dwight's Journal of Music, 10 October 1869.

“On Sunday evening Sept. 19, Mlle. Filomeno—the Chilian pianist—gave a concert in aid of the Cuban cause at Apollo Hall. She was assisted by various people of more or less ability, and also by a small and rather incapable orchestra. It does not seem that she has in any way made any artistic progress since last season.”
