“The New York Philharmonic Society has lost a valuable President in Mr. H.C. Timm, who has resigned his honorary position in the Society.  It will be difficult to find a successor who combines so many amiable qualities with a sincere and earnest love of art.  The past season of the Philharmonic was successful—the members receiving about sixty dollars each.  This is not too much for five concerts, and about twenty private and public rehearsals.”
