“A concert of instrumental music given by the ‘Franko Family,’ under the patronage of the European Conservatory of Music, took place last evening at Allemania Hall, East Sixteenth street, near Fifth avenue. Notwithstanding the threatening state of the weather there was a good attendance.

“The first piece on the programme was a Fantasie de Concerte on ‘Midsummer-Night’s Dream,’ arranged by Kotterer for four hands, and played upon two Chickering grands by Mr. Frank Gilder and Mr. Miron A. Ward. This was followed by a caprice for violin by Vieuxtemps, which was rendered in beautiful style by Master Sam. Franko. This talented lad plays with real artistic feeling, and executes wonderfully for so youthful a performer. Mr. Miron A. Ward played two piano-forte solos of his own composition; Mr. W. Popper, two violoncello solos; and Mr. Frank Gilder, the ‘Reveil des Fees,’ by Prudent, and Wallace’s ‘First Grand Polka’ for piano-forte. Selma and Jeanette played ‘L’Invitation a la Dance,’ by Weber, on two pianos; and the concert closed with variations for four violins by the Frankos.

“The Franko children certainly evince much talent; and if they are as successful in their concert tour, which they propose to start on soon, as their merit deserves, they will reap not only fame, but money.”
