“The Academy of Music was thrown open last night for a miscellaneous performance in aid of the German Hospital, but so few people came that at half-past eight the doors were closed, and the money returned to the few purchasers of tickets. A notorious pugilist had been announced as the chief attraction, and the utter failure of the entertainment—although its object was a charitable one—is significant.”
