“The illness of Mme Rose Bell persists. M. Grau will give some days of rest to the famous prima donna and not unnecessarily interrupt earlier the success of Geneviève de Brabant to distribute the role of the page, Dragon, to Mme Desclauzas and the one of Geneviève to Mme Rizareli, a new singer endowed with a pretty voice, a pretty appearance, and more, and excellent musician. Here a double attraction for the public.”

“The performance of ‘Geneviève de Brabant’ last evening was rendered very interesting by the change of cast, consequent upon the indisposition of Mlle. Rose Bell. The part of Drogan was sustained by Mlle. Desclauzas, while Geneviève was impersonated by Mlle. Rezarelli, a new prima donna, who, though perhaps a little timid, created a very favorable impression, both by her vocal powers and admirable acting. Mlle. Desclauzas was not only excellent in point of appearance, but her archness, vivacity, sprightliness and interpretation of the role generally elicited great admiration. The other characters were, as usual, well represented.”

“‘Genevieve de Brabant’ at the French Theatre last night was pleasantly reconstructed by a change of cast, Mlle. Desclauzas taking the part of Drogan, and a new singer named Rizarelli that of Genevieve. Both of these ladies sang and acted to the entire satisfaction of the audience. Of course, Rose Bell is so identified with the part of the gallant young pastry cook and page, that it is not easy to accept any successor; but certainly if a change be necessary at all, the present one leaves the least possible room to regret.”
