“Mme. Augusta Baerndorf gave the third of a series of represnetations at this theatre last evening, before a large and fashionable audience. Shakespeare’s fine comedy of ‘Taming of the Shrew,’ abbreviated, was the piece produced, Mme. Baerndorf sustaining the role of Katherine with great ability. Her excellent interpretation of that difficult character has already been favorably alluded to. It is only necessary to add that the highly finished manner in which she is presented it last evening was received with earnest manifestations of applause. Mr. Jendersky as Petrucchio acquitted himself admirably, as did nearly all the others. Between the acts Mr. Oscar Pfeiffer played some brilliant selections of his own on the pianoforte, displaying a wonderful execution and an evident mastery of the instrument. Altogether the entertainment was very agreeable and was thoroughly appreciated.”
