“The great favorite, Tony Pastor, was greeted on his reappearance last evening by a full house. His medley was a most lucky hit, for he was not only recalled again and again, but the groundlings threatened to exhaust all his patience and complacency. The audience were made acquainted with ‘My Eph,’ a mischievous young scamp, who escapes a spanking because ‘the ole man dasn’t try it;’ but the old man condones his truant propensities because of the precocious pranks the young clodhopper plays. The bill winds up with ‘Jack Blunt, the Detective,’ which is good for filling stuff, if nothing else. The juvenile gymnast, Frank Ashton, performed some extraordinary feats. Miss Alice Seidler, a blushing creature, not quite at home on the stage, but yet past her greener years, sang some favorite ballads, whose merit consisted chiefly in their novelty. After a little more experience on the stage she may become bold and confident enough to relieve any of her audience from the constant expectation of hearing one of the gods cry out ‘What makes you look so shy?’”
