“At the end of the first part of the performance Madame Herrmann sang an exquisite cavatina from Bellini’s opera of ‘Beatrice di Tenda.’ She has a pure soprano voice, clear and flute-like and of great compass, and it is evident she is thoroughly cultivated and has her voice under complete control. The wonder is that some of the operatic managers and impresarii have not endeavored to secure Madame Herrmann as prima donna. She was compared last night by critics to Frezzolini, and, perhaps, there could not have been a more just comparison. In opera Madame Herrmann would become a great favorite with the public. The second piece she sang at the commencement of the second part of the performance was ‘La Capriciosa, grand mazourka, by Ghessler. It was a rich treat, and the audience showed its appreciation of Madame Herrmann’s vocal ability. It is to be hoped Madame Herrmann will give the public the pleasure of hearing her again at the remaining two performances of her husband in New York.”
