“The Theatre Comique is enjoying a succession of crowded audiences every evening, as well as at the matinees. Professor and Madame Young appeared the past week in a series of magic performances. Master Barney has become a great favorite in his jig dancing, and his act, called ‘The Apple Girl and Dutchman,’ is very laughable. George Coes meets with a warm reception each evening, and his banjo solo is encored from three to four times. Mr. Coes sings a sentimental song and accompanies himself on the banjo. He possesses a pleasant baritone voice. W. B. Harrison holds his own with the audience, and his extemporaneous song pleases as well as any act on the programme, for he is encored every evening.”
