“A very pleasant evening was passed by the numerous audience called together by the enticing programme offered by Miss Maud Ernest, at Dodworth Hall. The entertainment consisted of recitations, readings and song with piano accompaniment, all of which were well, remarkably well, executed, displaying considerable talent on the part of the performers. The readings by Miss Maud Ernest were pathetic and well studied, but required a more powerful voice in order to render them distinct throughout the hall. The chief feature of the entertainment was doubtless the humorous songs by Miss Frankie Adams, who appears to have a decided talent in that direction. Commencing with ‘A Dollar or Two,’ then ‘Putting on Airs’ and eventually going ‘Up in a Balloon’ was irresistible.”
