“Boieldieu’s opera, ‘La Dame Blanche,’ was given at the French Theatre last night by a mixed company of French players and singers, of whom Duchesne and Genot afforded the most satisfaction. Other leading parts were taken by M. and Madame Girrebeuk, and by Madame Guerretti. The graceful though slightly old-fashioned music of the opera was favorably received. The chorus deserves special mention. M. Alard directed the orchestra.”

“The Theatre Francais was occupied last evening by a very appreciative audience, gathered on the occasion of M. Girrebeuck’s benefit. M. Girrebeuck was a tenor of the opera troupe whose misfortunes have been repeatedly written of here, and is a cultured and industrious artist. It is, therefore, pleasant to record that the compliment of a benefit-night tendered him was not an empty one. ‘La Dame Blanche’ was the opera, and was sung with great fidelity, M. Girrebeuck and Mme. Girrebeuck-Pfeffel filling the leading parts. It is proper to add that many of the spectators yesterday were a portion of the audience assembled in the house on Tuesday last, and that their presence and expressed satisfaction implied the perfect adjustment of difficulties growing out of the event of the early part of the week, which, by less liberal and skilled management than that of Mr. Grau, might have had an unfortunate influence on the future prosperity of the theatre.”
