“Tony Pastor holds his own in the amusement world, and his variety hall in the Bowery is largely attended every evening, particularly on Saturdays, when it is almost impossible to obtain standing room after the performance commences, as was the case last Saturday night, notwithstanding the weather was very unpleasant. John Denier did not put in an appearance at all the past week, as announced, as he was confined to bed with bilious fever and a heavy cold. Maggie Willett appeared each evening in her comic songs.”
