“C. M. A. rehearsal this evening. Ellie not quite well & could not go. Full attendance. Miss Edith Foster, a nice pretty girl. Beethoven’s Mass all through. 53 minutes. I begin to see how grand it is.  A little bit of Oberon.”

Announcement: New York Post, 05 April 1870, 2.

“Although the weather last night was unpropitious in the extreme, there was a full attendance of the members of this thriving society. It was announced last night by Dr. James Peck [sic] that there would be an extra rehearsal on Thursday evening at Trinity Chapel school-house, West Twenty-fifth street, at 8 o’clock, to which all the associate members are invited to attend punctually.”

“Then to Schoolhouse. Extra rehearsal, C. M. A. & fair attendance. Oberon choruses & Beethoven’s Mass to end of Cum Sancto Spiritu. Morgan Dix came in & enjoyed the music—& also enjoyed most keenly the eccentricities of Pech.”
