“Among the important choir changes of this season may be mentioned that in the choir of the church of the Nativity, Mayerhoefer, the organist, has retired, after an incumbency of upwards twenty years. His successor, Mr. Ferdinand J. White, took charge of the musical service on Sunday last for the first time, and introduced a quartet of fresh young voices. The soprano, Miss Rokohl, is a protégée [sic] of Miss Kellogg’s. We have rarely found so fine a voice in a choir. The tenor, Mr. W. F. White, was a pupil of Signor Severini while that skilled artist resided in this city. His voice is exceptionally pure and reliable, and tells effectively in mass music. The new organist displays executive ability of a high order, coupled with fine taste and sentiment.”
