“The Liederkranz Society gave its third concert at the new hall in Fourth-street last night. A very good programme was rendered to the satisfaction of a large and cheerful assemblage. The principal instrumental contribution consisted of the allegro moderato and andante of Schubert; symphony No. 2. Herr Lotti was the tenor, and sang an aria from ‘Don Sebastian.’ Miss Clara Perl sang also, and Miss Alide Topp played Raff’s cachucha and Kowalski’s ‘Ventre à Terre’ with a brilliancy which Miss Mehlig, a more refined artist, but one much less likely to carry away an audience than her spirited rival, seems rather indifferent to.”
