Review: New York Sun, 14 April 1870, 1.

“The twenty-fifth anniversary of the Hebrew Temple Emmau-el on Fifth avenue was celebrated last evening by a sacred concert. Beside the solo performers and the choir of the temple, the Social Maennercher [sic] and the Mendelssohn Quartette Club assisted. The choir occupied their usual position in the organ gallery, but the others, to the number of fifty singers, were placed in the lofty gallery, sixty feet high, over the al memor. The new contralto, Miss Clarr [sic] Perl, a young lady just arrived from Frankfort, sang the magnificent aria from the ‘Prophete’ where the loving mother finds her son decked in the royal trappings of religious imposture and surrounded by all the gorgeous ceremonial of his coronation.”
