Review: New-York Daily Tribune, 18 April 1870, 8.

“The ceremonies for Holy Week prescribed by the Roman ritual were performed by the Paulists with scrupulous fidelity… The choir composed entirely a large number of volunteer vocalists, led by the organist, Mr. E. Eberhard, gave a portion of Haydn’s Third Mass in ‘D’ in good style, the fresh, pure voice of the soprano, Mrs. Weed, being heard to great advantage in the Gloria, and her execution of the Benedictus (from Weber’s Mass in G) being faultless. The choruses were so well sung that no praise can be too high for the artist who has produced so much form a band of unskilled amateurs.”
