“…The custom of giving Wednesday afternoon performances at this house has been temporarily abandoned, but it will be resumed on the 20th inst.”
“In compliance with a large number of requests from suburban residents for a one o’clock matinee of Frou Frou, Mr. Daly begs to announce for Wednesday next, at 1 o’clock, an extra matinee.”
“New decorations are to be added to the already brilliant scenic setting, this evening, and, in the beautiful Venetian scene, a new barcarole is to be sung, for the first time… The custom of Wednesday Matinées will be resumed at the Fifth Avenue on the 27th inst.”
“The spring opening of fashions will take place at the Fifth Avenue theatre [sic] this evening… A new barcarolle and a new set of furniture for ‘Frou-Frou’s’ budoir is also promised. The barcarolle will be sung in the scene in Venice… There is little doubt but ‘Frou-Frou’ will continue to delight its admirers until the dogdays drive them away to the seaside.”
Of the Wednesday matinee: “…Suburban residents who may wish to see a play that has attracted so much attention and inspired so much comment, as well in Paris and London as in New-York, have here in a convenient opportunity of gratifying a very natural curiosity.”
“‘Frou-Frou.’—This delicious bit of domestic drama or comedy, however you may call it, came out Monday night in Mr. Daly’s bijou establishment in a new dress… the beautiful theatre shone with new brilliancy in the surroundings with which the young and talent manager embellished it. A dashing barcarole from the pen of the musical director of the theatre was sung in the Italian scene, Miss Amy Ames taking the principal part. According to its new setting ‘Frou-Frou’ has been rejuvenated to such an extent that it must long remain, in its present position, ‘the theatrical sensation of the present year, and one of the loveliest plays ever presented to the New York public.’”
