“…[E]verything about [this church] denotes that it is in good hands, and that its management have devoted as much care to the simple yet chaste embellishments of the edifice as they have in selecting most excellent choir and devoted pastor. In fact, the singing of the quartet of this church cannot be surpassed by that of any other church in this city, which, taking into consideration the great attention that is nowadays paid to the selection of church choirs, cannot be taken as a mean compliment…

“…[T]he choir sang the hymn beginning

To Zion’s hill I lift my eyes

From thence expecting aid;

From Zion’s hill and Zion’s God,

Whom heaven and earth have made.” No further mention of music.
