Review: New York Herald, 09 May 1870, 4.

“…The music was of a rare order of excellence, combining the choicest pieces of Mozart, and the happiest prob[illeg.] of McGillicuddy. The tenor surpassed himself, and the soprano left no room for criticism. The contralto was fully equal to the occasion, and the bass came up to the highest expectations of his numerous admirers. The organist manipulated the keys and stops with a perfection of touch that showed him to be no mere tyro in his profession. On the whole, few congregations that assembled yesterday to give thanks to God listened to more ecstatic music than that which echoed within the walls of this humble temple on Mulberry street.”
