“The choir was composed of the following artistes: Mrs. E. J. Adams, soprano; Miss Macomber, contralto; and Mr. P. E. Farnsworth, basso. They commenced the service by singing the following lines:—

Oh, sacred presence, life define

We rear for Thee no gilded shrine;

[Continues with additional lines].

“It would have been no harm if ‘the spirit’ moved some of the congregation to join in the singing, as the choir, though very well trained, and rendering the different airs in a highly artistic and finished manner, was rather limited, consisting of only three, which certainly are not enough to fill this rather large hall. No doubt the spirits will see the force of this after a short time, and will open the mouths of some of the congregation at least.”
