“The Twelve Temptations, having netted $50,000 for Col. Fisk, promises to net $50,000 more for the same party before it is withdrawn.”
The Ninth Regiment marched to the theater on Saturday (05/14/70) evening to watch the performance together. “…seats had been reserved for the entire regiment in the dress circle, the officers being accommodated with a box. The house was packed and the vast hall and corridors were equally crowded. The streets outside the building presented the same extraordinary spectacle.
“In the theatre, during the performance, the utmost enthusiasm prevailed…”
The Twelve Temptations “is doing the best business in this city, the house being more crowded and the receipts the largest every evening. We are told that it is the intention of the management to run this spectacle up to the 20th of September. The matinees on Saturday are largely attended, and the spectacle is, without doubt, taken on the whole, equal to anything witness in this country for a long time. A ballet troupe from Vienna is said to have been secured for this piece and will shortly appear.”
