“A crowded house on a wet evening is an irresistible proof that the Tammany Alhambra is a favorite place of amusement with the public… The music and the dancing were both above the average of this class of performance [The pearl of Tokay].”

“‘The Pearl of Tokay’ is one of the handsomest and most pleasing ballet divertissements that we have seen in some time…Gussie Crayton made her debut here the past week in serio comic [sic] songs and was well received. She looks well, dresses in a style sure to please, and sings in a manner that takes well with the audience. She does a good imitation of Uncle Frank Brower’s old style dance…Bobby Newcomb received a number of encores for his songs and dances.”
