     “A complimentary benefit was given last evening at the Apollo Rooms, to Mr. Gerald Gaffney, by some prominent amateur vocalists of this city. The performances of Madame Paulitsch were excellent, as were those of Miss Scheppelmann, who received much applause.  Mr. Gaffney was among the Singers.  ‘The Prayer Before the Battle’ by the Amphion Singing Society, was among the most effective pieces of the evening.”
