“The annual reception of Mrs. Leopold Wells’ Institute for Young Ladies came off last evening at the Harvard Rooms…The programme consisted of twenty-six exercises, comprising recitations, dialogues, music, vocal and instrumental, and calisthenics…It would be an invidious task to single out particular scholars—each and every one did exceedingly well. However, the following young ladies were especially singled out for accomplished performance on the piano:—Misses Meyer and Simmond’s duet, ‘Ernani;’ Miss Wilson, ‘Dance des Naides;’ Miss Hannah Wetzier, piano solo, ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream,’ &c.”
