“It is not amiss, now that the din of the Festival at the Coliseum well-[illeg] silences all lesser sounds, to remind the public that not far from the monster concert hall, and in a certainly less pretentious manner, Mr. Theodore Thomas’ full orchestra interprets every evening of the week a programme of exceptional variety and quality. Mr. Thomas’ orchestra is the same numerous body of musicians that for three or four seasons past has made the Central Park Garden, now owned and managed by the Koch Brothers, so popular a place of resort. Orchestras in which individual talent is found in abundance are not few; but no city of the United States is favored with an organization in which solo skill and nity of taste and purpose are combined in the liberal proportions distinguishing Mr. Thomas’ instrumental assembly among all others.”
