“The unceasing efforts of Col. Jas. Fisk to please his command at the head of the American militia have called forth the unstinted applause of all military men. His latest movement has been the organization of a drum corps of 30 men. He has appointed Mr. George W. Hill, formerly Drum Major of the Thirty-seventh, and latterly of the West Point Military Academy, his Drum Major, and that gentleman has already got matters in such a state of progress that the corps will herald the march of the gallant Ninth on the approaching Fourth of July. The uniform of the corps will be scarlet, with heavy bearskin shakos.”
