“That of last week--the first of the series—was a very pleasant affair. Signorina and Signor Ronconi both sang with excellent effect, and were warmly applauded.”

“The first of the fresh series of Saturday Popular Concerts, to be given at Association Hall, was attended, day before yesterday, by a very numerous audience. It seems to us that a more brilliant opening entertainment might have been devised. But three artists appeared, and no instrumental music, except the too liberal organ contributions of Signor Mora, was offered. Signor Ronconi, Mlle. Antoinette Ronconi and Mr. J. N. Nilsen were the performers in question. Signor Ronconi’s art is too generally admired to need new assurances of appreciation on our part. Mlle. Ronconi’s voice is by no means strong, but it has been carefully trained, and her singing is unquestionably pleasant. Mr. Nilsen is a tenor of moderate merit. The programme rendered consisted of [see above]. The execution of these compositions was varied by the organ performances of Signor Mora, whose talent and untiring industry were once more displayed.”

“The Saturday afternoon concerts at the Hall of the Young Men’s Christian Association were resumed the day before yesterday under rather encouraging circumstances. There was a fair audience, from the appearance of which we should judge that ladies propose rewarding the enterprise of the managers with the same fashionable prestige which they bestowed upon it last year. There is no particular fault to be found with the quality of the music, for one does not expect to hear Nilsson, or Parepa, or Henry Vieuxtemps, for 25 cents. Ronconi and his daughter, Mr. Mora the organist, and Mr. Nilsen, tenor, interpreted the programme of the first concert.”
