Announcement: New-York Times, 10 April 1871, 4.

“The performance has been much improved since the representations to which we alluded at length, and the artists, one and all, now come forth with honors from a contest with labors of a herculean kind. We hope the management will continue to reap the reward last week’s crowded houses no doubt partially secured. The toil and outlays preceding the producing of ‘Lohengrin’ deserve praise and recompense in no common degree.”
